Planet 13 Sarasota Opens August 21: Deals, Discounts & What to Know

Sarasota is getting a new Planet 13 dispensary, with the in-store opening set for August 21, 2026. Opening day is the hook, but the things people actually want to know last longer than one day: where it is, how the value holds up, which discounts apply, and what's currently on special. This guide is for the part that comes after the "opening soon" sign comes down.

Planet 13 Sarasota Opening: The Basics

• Opening date: August 21, 2026 (in-store grand opening)
• Address: 2460 Stickney Point Rd, Sarasota, FL 34231 — at the intersection of Stickney Point Road and Highway 41 (Tamiami Trail), the main route to Siesta Key
• Grand opening event: Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22, 2026, per Planet 13's public grand-opening listing
• Store hours: 9:00 AM–6:45 PM (pre-order available now; confirm current hours on the listing before you go)
• What's carried: Planet 13, Medizin, and Leaf & Vine flower, plus vapes, edibles, concentrates, pre-rolls and tinctures — medical-use only

The Sarasota location is a roughly 2,600-square-foot medical cannabis dispensary, per Planet 13's July 2026 announcement. Hours can shift in the first weeks after opening, so verify on the Planet 13 Sarasota listing before you visit.

What Planet 13 Brings to Sarasota

Planet 13 is a national cannabis brand with a growing Florida footprint — there are already Planet 13 locations in Orlando, Bradenton, Port Charlotte, and Tampa. For Sarasota patients, the practical takeaway is simple: another major-brand option on the south side of the city, carrying the same Planet 13, Medizin, and Leaf & Vine flower lines available at the brand's other Florida stores.

Price vs. Quantity: Where the Value Is

The headline percentage isn't the whole story — value depends on what a discount applies to and how much product you actually get for the price. A few examples from the verified Sarasota menu make the point.

On Planet 13 Tier 1 flower, the stored menu lists Cap Junky at $21 for a 3.5g pouch and Mochi at $35 for a 7g container. That works out to about $6 per gram for the eighth and $5 per gram for the 7g — so the larger quantity is the better per-gram price before any discount. The current "30% off all Planet 13 Tier 1 flower" promotion brings the 7g Mochi down to about $24.50 (≈$3.50/g) and the 3.5g Cap Junky to about $14.70 (≈$4.20/g), which keeps the larger quantity ahead on per-gram cost.

Brand matters too. Leaf & Vine's Slurt3y 3.5g pouch is listed at $13, and Medizin's Cosmic Crunch 3.5g jar at $28 — a wide range for the same quantity, which is why "the biggest percentage" isn't always the best deal. A 40%-off Planet 13-brand promotion can beat a smaller discount on a pricier brand, but only if the Planet 13 product is the one you actually want.

The useful habit: compare the final per-gram (or per-unit) price for the specific product you came in for, not the headline percentage across the whole menu.

Veterans Should Pay Attention to Planet 13's Discount

This is where Planet 13 Sarasota stands out. The listing advertises a standing 40% discount for veterans and first responders — one of the more generous verified discount programs in Bud Rover's Sarasota data. According to current Planet 13 promotional information, it's available to loyalty members only, applies one discount per transaction, and cannot be combined with other offers. Confirm participation and exact terms with the Sarasota location before planning a purchase around it.

There's also a higher-value day for the same group: "Thank You Thursday" lists 50% off all day and 60% off from 5 PM–7 PM for veterans, first responders, government employees, K-12 educators, and medical professionals — applied to Planet 13 brand products, HaHa, and Dreamland, with other brands excluded. If you're eligible, checking whether your Thursday visit lands in the 5–7 PM window can matter more than the everyday 40%.

Other Planet 13 Discounts

Several other discount programs are listed for the Sarasota location, all tied to loyalty membership and subject to a one-discount-per-transaction, cannot-combine rule. According to current Planet 13 promotional information; confirm participation and terms with the Sarasota location.

• New patients — 50% off your first 3 visits (excludes Leaf & Vine and cannabis devices)
• Seniors 55+ and pediatric caregivers — 25% off
• Cannabis industry and hospitality workers — 35% off, Monday–Wednesday
• Teachers, college students, and SNAP/SSI/SSDI recipients — 20% off

A separate "Wisdom Wednesday" for ages 55+ offers 60% off from 9–11 AM and 50% off the rest of the day on Planet 13 brand products, HaHa, and Dreamland, with exclusions on Tier 1 flower, Medizin, Leaf & Vine, Private Stock, cannabis devices, and apparel unless otherwise stated. For a 55+ shopper, that weekly window can outperform the everyday 25% senior discount — on the brands it covers.

3 Planet 13 Sarasota Deals Worth Looking At

These are current promotions in Bud Rover's Sarasota data at the time of this update. Promotions change, so treat them as a snapshot.

New Patient: 50% Off Your First 3 Visits. The most aggressive single discount in the listing — and unusually, it applies across three visits rather than one. The exclusion of Leaf & Vine and cannabis devices is the key condition; if you were planning to buy Leaf & Vine flower, this offer won't apply to it.

Veterans & First Responders: 40% Off. A standing discount rather than a one-day special, and one of the deeper veteran programs in Sarasota. Loyalty membership required; cannot be combined. If you're eligible, this is the one to plan around.

Wisdom Wednesday (55+): 60% Off 9–11 AM, 50% Off All Day. The strongest time-boxed value in the current set for shoppers 55+ — but only on Planet 13 brand, HaHa, and Dreamland. Reading the exclusion list (no Tier 1 flower, Medizin, Leaf & Vine, Private Stock) before you go keeps this from being a wasted trip.
