Florida Dispensary Discounts Explained: New Patient, Loyalty, Veterans & More
Florida dispensaries run a lot of discounts, and the details change often. The useful question isn't "who has the biggest discount?" — it's "which discount actually applies to what I want to buy, and what will I pay at the register?" This guide explains the discount structures you'll see across Florida so you know what to look for. For what's live right now, Bud Rover's Florida dispensary deals page is the live source.
A snapshot of Florida discounts right now
To set expectations with real numbers: at the time of this update, Bud Rover tracks 147 dispensaries statewide, with 846 active deals listed between them. The current deals break down roughly by category — flower 412, vapes 148, edibles 108, concentrates 77, prerolls 61, tinctures 13, and a small number of topicals and accessories — and split between product-specific price drops (571) and broader promotions (275).
On the eligibility side, 29 dispensaries currently list a new-patient offer, 28 list a veteran discount, 28 list a senior discount, and only 2 list a first-responder discount. Those counts change, so treat them as a snapshot — a dispensary with a discount today may adjust it, and one without may add one.
New-patient discounts
A new-patient discount is a one-time offer for first-time customers, and it's where some of the largest headline percentages show up. The shape varies a lot. Trulieve's current offer reads "60% Off First Order, 50% Off Second, 40% Off Third." Sunnyside lists "40% Off First Purchase, 50% Off First 4 Visits with Code CRESCONPD2090." Green Dragon Cannabis in Englewood offers "50% Off first visit, 20% Off second visit," and The Flowery in Venice lists "25% Off (All Brands)."
A few things to check before you plan around one: how the dispensary defines a "new patient," whether the percentage applies to the full menu or only select categories, whether there are purchase limits, and whether an offer spread across several visits is still worth it if you only shop there once. Eligibility is typically tied to your Medical Marijuana Use Registry ID, but exactly how a dispensary defines eligibility varies — so confirm the terms rather than assuming. If you're not registered yet, Bud Rover's MMJ doctor directory can point you to a recommending physician.
Veteran and first-responder discounts
Where they're offered, veteran and first-responder discounts are recurring — they apply every visit, not once. But they're not universal. In current Bud Rover data, 28 dispensaries list a veteran discount and only 2 list a first-responder discount, so availability is set dispensary by dispensary.
Verified examples: Trulieve lists "20% Off Every Purchase" for veterans; Sunnyside lists "25% Off"; and Green Dragon lists "30% Off." On the first-responder side, the only two dispensaries currently listing one are Planet 13 Sarasota ("40% Off") and Goldflower Bradenton ("15% Off"). Bud Rover's dispensary listings flag a veteran discount where one is on file — but treat any listed amount as "last known," and confirm at checkout.
Senior and other eligibility-based discounts
Senior discounts work like veteran discounts — recurring where offered, with the age threshold and amount set by each dispensary. Trulieve lists "10% Off (55+)," Sunnyside "15% Off (60+)," and Green Dragon "22% Off." The qualifying age and the percentage aren't standardized, so a dispensary you're considering may set different terms than these.
Loyalty and rewards programs
A number of Florida dispensaries run points-based loyalty programs. If you tend to shop at the same location, rewards can add up to more savings over a few months than any single one-time offer. Earning rates and redemption rules vary by dispensary and aren't standardized, so it's worth asking how a program works — what a point is worth, what's eligible, and whether rewards expire — before committing to one location.
Product and category promotions
Beyond status-based discounts, dispensaries run promotions on specific products or categories, and these rotate constantly. Current examples in Bud Rover's data include Trulieve Sarasota's "$10 Edibles" (marked down from $20) and "$5 1g Pre-Rolls" (from $15), a "$30 Liquid Live Resin" vape cartridge (from $55), and storewide promotions like Cookies Tampa Fletcher's "40% Off Storewide" and "Wake & Bake — 25% Off." These line up with the category mix above — flower, vapes, and edibles carry the most active promotions — and they're useful when they match something you were already going to buy.
Bulk and quantity savings
Some promotions reward a larger quantity or total spend with a lower per-unit price. Current examples include Trulieve Sarasota's "Build Your Own Ounce" at $120 (listed from $280) and "2 for $40 7g Ground" (from $80), and Eden Tampa's "Hybrid Ground Flower 7g" at $30 (from $50). These can reduce your cost over time if you know what you want and buy regularly — but only if you'd buy that quantity anyway. A bulk price that pushes you to buy more than you need isn't really savings.
Why the biggest percentage isn't always the best deal
This is the part most comparison guides skip. A high percentage off only tells you the size of the discount — not what it applies to, what it excludes, or what you actually pay. A 30% discount on the product you came in for is usually more useful than a 50% promotion limited to a category you don't buy. A smaller discount at a dispensary close to you can beat a bigger one across town once you factor in the drive.
The number that matters is the final price for the specific product you want, at a location you can reasonably get to. As a simple hypothetical: 25% off a $40 eighth comes to $30, while 50% off a $70 eighth comes to $35 — the bigger percentage costs more.
Can discounts be stacked?
Stacking — combining more than one discount on a single purchase — varies by dispensary and promotion, so check the offer terms before assuming two discounts can be combined. Most dispensaries treat each promotion as standing on its own unless the terms of that specific offer say otherwise. If stacking matters to you, confirm the dispensary's policy on the specific promotion before planning a purchase around it.
What to check before you buy
- Is the promotion still active today?
- Are you eligible — new patient, veteran, senior, loyalty member, first responder?
- Does it apply to the product you want, or only selected items?
- Is there a minimum purchase?
- Can it stack with another offer, or does it stand alone?
- Does the math actually win once you compare final prices?
If a promotion looks too good, it's usually because one of these details is doing the work.
The part that stays the same, and the part that doesn't
The structure of these discounts — new-patient, loyalty, veteran, senior, category, bulk — is relatively stable. The specific amounts, products, and active promotions change constantly. This guide explains the structure; Bud Rover's deals pages show what's live right now across the Sarasota, Tampa, Orlando, and Miami markets. For a focused look at comparing offers in one metro, our Orlando dispensary deals guide walks through the same logic at the local level.
Compare current Florida dispensary deals
The most reliable way to use any of this is to compare current offers in one place rather than checking each dispensary's site individually.
